What comes to us when you use the site
When you read articles, the systems that host and deliver our site (including our content delivery/caching layer) automatically receive standard technical data from your browser. That usually includes your IP address, the pages you request, the date and time, and your browser and device type. Hosts keep short-term server logs to operate the service and to protect it from abuse.
Comments are open on most articles. If you choose to post a comment, we receive the text you submit and any name and email address you provide, along with your IP address and browser user agent. WordPress records these to help with spam detection and moderation.
If you email us, we receive the content of your message and the address and other metadata your email provider includes.
Accounts and contributors
Visitor registration is not offered. Only our own team members have site accounts. WordPress sets session cookies for logged-in administrators so they can manage the magazine; these do not apply to regular readers.
Why we use this information
We use the information described above to publish the magazine, display pages quickly and securely, moderate comments, prevent spam and abuse, fix errors, and respond to messages. Where laws require a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating and securing the site, and on consent where you choose optional features such as saving your details for future comments.

Server and CDN logs are kept for a limited time for security and troubleshooting, then deleted or aggregated. Published comments and their moderation records are kept as part of the article history unless you ask us to remove them or we remove them during moderation. Emails you send may be retained as long as needed to handle your request and keep a record of our correspondence.
Your choices and rights
You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, delete it, or restrict or object to certain processing. Where we rely on consent (for example, saving your details in a comment cookie), you can withdraw that consent at any time by clearing cookies or contacting us.
